Witness A Journey

A Testimony of Purpose

There was a season in my life when everything familiar was stripped away. It was a long, unexpected desert that stretched farther than I ever imagined. It became a place of breaking, of wrestling, and of questions I didn’t know how to ask. What I didn’t realize at the time was that the LORD was not abandoning me; He was rebuilding me. The desert exposed the places in me that were exhausted, wounded, and carrying more than the LORD ever asked me to carry. Years of spiritual battles, ministry strain, grief, and transition had quietly accumulated until I could no longer outrun them. In that hidden place, the LORD brought me to the end of my strength so He could restore me with His.

There were days when I felt sidelined, days when I wondered if I had missed my purpose, and days when silence felt louder than answers. Yet even there, the LORD was present, healing what was broken, restoring what was lost, and calling me back to Himself with a tenderness I had forgotten. Slowly, He rebuilt my identity. He reminded me that calling is not earned but given. He showed me that purpose is not found in striving but in surrender. And He breathed life back into places I thought were gone forever.

In time, the desert became a place of encounter, a place of healing and recommissioning. The same God who helped and healed Elisha was helping and healing me, not to return to what was, but to step into what He had prepared all along. He restored my voice, renewed my purpose, and awakened my spirit to walk again in the calling He placed on my life. This testimony is not about my strength; it is about His faithfulness.

If you find yourself in your own desert, weary, unsure, or feeling forgotten, I want you to know this: the LORD has not abandoned you. He restores, He heals, and He recommissions. And He will finish the work He began in you. This is my story. This is His purpose. And this is why I walk in The Elisha Calling today — to help others find their way back to the God who saves, the God who helps, and the God who heals.

Shalom,

Scott Wood
